Into Plein Air, is artist Roderick Smiths interpretation of the
best-selling novel, Into Thin Air, but instead of climbing the highest
mountain in the world, he works hard to conquer Oregon scenes in an impressionistic style.
Smith will show 30 paintings of Portlands industrial area, bridges and the
Oregon Coast.
The paintings range from tiny6 inches by 8 inchesto moderate in size30
inches by 40 inches. Prices are moderate too, from $400 to $1,400.

I
paint directly from nature, attempting to capture the spontaneity of the moment while
constantly searching for a balance between the objective aspects of the forms I see and my
emotional reaction to them.
