A Historic Journey on the Street Car
The Broderick Gallery’s February show
features the work of local artist Buck Braden. A street
car window is the setting for a series of paintings
portraying historic events. Beautiful wood worked
frames complete the sense of a carriage window. The
first in the series portrays the concept of suffrage,
1916, and other historic events are pursued in the
subsequent oil paintings.
Braden is a full time artist since 1988
living in Tualatin, OR. He states: “A successful work
of art contains three elements, intellect, skill, and
passion. When these are in balance the work functions
as a piece that can communicate the artist’s intent and
elicit a sympathetic response from the viewer.”
