New Paintings
Interpret the Vibrant Cancun, Mexico
First Thursday
Reception with artist - November 2nd from 5 to 9 pm.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through
Saturday, 11-6 and by appointment
An accomplished artist
with more than 1,200 works in collections private and public
throughout the world, Taylor’s recent artistic inspiration is
the vibrant Mexican land-and-cityscape she experienced in while
sketching in Cancun.

After the Siesta
oil on canvas
48" x 60"
This suite of
paintings reflects my delight in a trip to Mexico last April,
when snow flurries were still sweeping the ground with an icy
broom in New York City. The warmth and color of the place
completely turned around my dolorous state, and the old
buildings’ ramshackle orientation charmed me. The dense plant
growth leaning against the buildings, the ever changing skies,
the color made me engage in a whirlwind of drawings and painted
sketches.

Cancun
oil on canvas
12" x 12"
These
paintings are all rooted in the sketches, though I have let
memory and imagination embellish them. I stayed in an old part
of the city, which suffered damage from a recent hurricane. This
lent a dishevelled look to many of the parks, gardens and
buildings, but was life affirming in the way that the locals
still strolled in the evenings, and enjoyed the outdoor cafes
and family life in spite of the difficult time they had endured.

Cancun 2
oil on canvas
36" x 48"
I am pleased to be showing this
group of recent work in Oregon, my cherished home for 21 years.
