Terry Montague Sauriol paints beyond the subject of her still-lifes. She is
especially attentive to the lighting of the object and the shadows cast by it.
"I like to take seemingly everyday objects or settings and make them as
interesting as I see them by painting the colors, the lighting and the shadows rather than
merely the subject."
During the summer of 1998, Sauriol left Portland, OR to move east of the Cascade
Mountains. Sauriol's expansive new environment has influenced her oil paintings.
"Light is more important to me everyday." This body of work reflects
her awareness of the light in her area and embraces the rich colors of her region.

A graduate of Washington State University, Sauriol is both a classically trained
painter and an educator herself. She taught art to high school students for a number
of years, before turning her energies to her own studio work. As a result of her
influence and tutelage, many of her students have pursued careers in the visual arts.
Terry Montague Sauriol shows in galleries throughout the Northwest and California,
including the Gallery OSCAR in Sun Valley, Idaho and Left Banks Gallery located in
Southern California. Her work is found in several private collections both stateside
and abroad. The Broderick Gallery is pleased to add Terry Montague Sauriol to our
artist roster.
